Remember the footage of the MCG crowd standing on its feet when Sachin Tendulkar came walking down in a Test in 2011? Well, if you don’t, better search and find it. Meanwhile, the world witnessed the same goosebumps when MS Dhoni came marching down from the pavilion to bat at the ‘G’. During the series-deciding ODI in Melbourne, Dhoni not walked in to bat but bailed India out of trouble to win the game for them.

Fans chant, ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’…

Unless he arrived in the middle of the crease, there was only one chant being heard at the MCG; ‘Dhoni, Dhoni’. As India lost Shikhar Dhawan inside first 20 overs, the ex-India captain came out to bat at four. However, guarded by security, MS walked down those stairs with chants of his name been uttered all over the stadium. Well, it seems the mantra worked; as Dhoni, not completed his third fifty in his third match of the series, but also helped India win the clash by seven wickets.

Earlier in the series, MS had collected twin fifties in first two games also. At the SCG, he scored 51 runs, though in the second match at the Adelaide Oval he hit an unbeaten 55. In the first game, he received a lot of flak for playing his second slowest fifty in ODIs. However, he covered up in the next game, helping India level the three-match series 1-1.

Meanwhile, here is the video –

MS on his batting position

After Dhoni received the Player of the Series award for scoring three fifties in as many games; and having an average of 193, he talked about his batting position in the team. At the post-match conference, the veteran Indian said he could not pick his favourite batting position; as he will bat anywhere, the team wants him too.

In the forthcoming New Zealand ODIs, which starts on January 23rd in Napier; it would be interesting to see where MS Dhoni bats.
