Ahead of next year’s bumper showdown between India and Australia, Tim Paine has set the tone for yet another fierce series. Both the teams have given the world of cricket some unforgettable games in recent years. The recent India-Australia fixtures are no more only about the contest between bat and ball as players from both the sides give their all to win this celebrate fixture.

Sledging and controversies have become a part and parcel of almost every India-Australia fixture. And if Virat Kohli comes across Tim Paine’s recent comments, then one can safely that that the next year’s series will be cracker. The India captain loves to give it back to the opposition and Tim Paine’s comments are unlikely to go down well with him.

Tim Paine’s cheeky dig at Kohli:

Tim Paine made it to the news more for his on-field comments rather than his cricket when India toured Australia last year. India had gone on to win the series 2-1 as Paine became the first Australia skipper to lose a Test series to India on home soil. And the wicketkeeper-batsman once again showed that he has not lost his verbal abilities.

While he was addressing the media after the win over Pakistan, a journalist asked Paine if his team was ready to play a Pink ball Test against world No. 1 side India in Brisbane next summer. In reply, Paine came up with an answer that will surely not go down well with Kohli. Paine said that Australia are ready if Virat Kohli gives the nod. Paine perhaps wanted to take a dig at the amount of influence Kohli has in the game. India had refused to play a Day-night Test against Australia last year in Adelaide.

“We’ll certainly try and we’ll have to run that by Virat,” said Paine as he left the reporters in split. “We’ll get an answer from him at some stage I’m sure. That’s where we like to start our summer and it has been for a long long time except for last summer.

“As I said we’ll ask Virat and see if we can get his permission to play here and maybe even get a Pink-ball Test if he’s in a good mood. So we’ll wait and see,” added the Aussie skipper.
