New Zealand pace spearhead Trent Boult made a stunning return to Test cricket by castling Joe Burns with a gem of a delivery in the ongoing Test against Australia in Melbourne. The left-arm pacer missed the two-home Test series against England as well as the first Test against Australia in Perth as he recovered from a rib injury.

New Zealand missed Trent Boult badly as they lost the series-opener by 296 runs. And the pacer did not take long to show what his side missed in Perth, taking just four balls to make his mark on comeback. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson boldly decided to bowl first and handed the ball to Trent Boult and the latter did not disappoint at all.

On the fourth ball of the very first over, he left Burns clueless to rattle the stumps. Trent Boult bowled a delivery that was fast, full and straight. The ball nipped back in and passed through the small gap between pad and bat to send the stumps rattling.

Here is a clip of that stunning delivery from Trent Boult:

Trent Boult also troubled Marnus Labsuchagne by extracting swing off the MCG surface. The fans were also treated to some fine bowling by Boult’s bowling partners – Tim Southee and Neil Wagner.

New Zealand make early inroads:

New Zealand have taken the early honours in the game by dismissing the Australian openers – David Warner and Burns – inside the first session. At Lunch, Australia were 67 for 2. After Burns departed for a first-ball duck, Warner and Labuschagne steadied the ship by adding 60 runs for the second wicket before Wagner sent back the former for 41.

Southee took a stunning one-handed catch in the slip cordon to make sure Warner returns to the pavilion cheaply once again in the ongoing series.
