Navdeep Saini, on Saturday, surprised many with his batting skills. While the youngster is one of the most highly-rated after pacers in the country right now, very few knew that he is also a handy batsman. The Delhi star gave a glimpse of his batting talent during the second ODI against New Zealand.

Navdeep Saini played a fine cameo to revive India’s hopes before the hosts managed to seal the game in dramatic fashion. The right-handed batsman slammed 45 runs off just 49 balls and shared an impressive 76-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja. Saini was so good with the bat that he almost overshadowed Jadeja.

His impressive knock was studded with five fours and a couple of sixes. But unfortunately his career-best knock went in vain as New Zealand won the second ODI by 22 runs to seal the three-match series with a match to go. Asked to bat first, New Zealand rode on fifties from Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor to score 273 for 8.

In reply, India were all out for 251 in the 49th over. Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja scored fighting fifties but poor display from the top-order made things tough for the side.

Teammates surprised:

Navdeep Saini hit two sixes during his entertaining knock and the first six left everyone including his teammates pleasantly surprised. On the fourth ball of the 41st over, Saini hit Jimmy Neesham for a maximum over backward point. And as soon as the ball landed outside the boundary ropes, the cameras focused towards the Indian dug out.

The likes of Rishabh Pant, Yuzvendra Chahal could not help but laugh and applaud the shot from Saini in a hilarious manner. In another incident, India skipper Virat Kohli also gave an animated reaction after Saini scooped Colin de Grandhomme for a four.
