One of the most promising youngsters in the Indian setup, Prithvi Shaw recently talked about Virat Kohli. The young prodigy, who had made his international debut last year in Tests against Windies at home, spoke on what Virat’s words of encouragement mean to him. Meanwhile, after Shaw had hit a debut hundred in Rajkot, the India captain had lavished praises on him – saying, ‘he (Virat) was not even 10% of what Shaw is, aged 18’.

Virat always shares his experience – Shaw

Prithvi Shaw made his name immediately after he emerged on the scene. In the first Test, he scored a century, while in the following game, Shaw registered scores like 70 and 33*. As he had been impressive in the red-ball format, the Mumbai batsman got picked for the Australia Tests.

However, an unfortunate toe injury ruled him out of the series – giving a chance to another in-form batsman, Mayank Agarwal. In the preceding warm-up game, Shaw scored a fifty against CA XI as well. Though he remained on the sidelines, Prithvi Shaw was very much under everyone’s observation.

Meanwhile, the India skipper was in all praises for the youngster. Recently, talking to Cricket Next exclusively, Shaw said Virat always shares his experience with him, as he is around for over a decade now. Knowing Kohli’s credentials with the bat, Prithvi Shaw noted he is the best batsman in the world and to understand what goes into the game will help him become a better player.

“We are not even 10% of what he is but those kind words really mean a lot for me, for a youngster to be honest. We always talk about cricket; off the field as well he shares his thoughts because he has already played so much cricket. He is the number one batsman in the world and he shares a lot of his experiences – whatever he has done before and how he has come this far,” Shaw said.

T20 cricket to keep Shaw busy until May

The 18-year old is currently plying his trade for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. At the forthcoming Indian Premier League season 12, the right-handed batsman will play for Delhi Capitals.
