The veteran Bangladesh wicket-keeper batsman pulled off a great chase on a difficult wicket. The bowlers did an exceptional job to restrict the star-studded Indian batting unit to 148 runs. Mahmudullah won a great toss and his bowlers responded to the situation well.

During the chase, the visitors were in a similar situation as that of the 2016 World T20 in Bangalore. Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah were at the crease. Bangladesh had the game well in hand but lost it in the last over. However, the duo didn’t repeat the same mistakes on Sunday as they took their side home safely.

Reflecting on the same, Mushfiqur said that he has learnt from his past mistakes and has won games for Bangladesh since then. The senior cricketer added that what matters is the win and they are happy to register that.

“Win is a win and we still have two matches. If we can win the series then we can celebrate,” Mushfiqur said after the game, adding that he’s learnt his lesson from the 2016 game. “Men can make mistakes. As long as you’re learning from your mistakes, that’s the most important part. And after that incident [in Bangalore WCT20] I was closing games in T20s and also in ODIs. So that gives me lot of confidence,” he added.

Bangladesh took 18 runs from Khaleel Ahmed’s 19th over which changed the face of the game. Mushfiqur Rahim said that they had a clear idea of the situation and also it feels great to finish the game. The veteran cricketer scored 60 off 43 deliveries to win the game for Bangladesh.

“We knew what we had to do in that situation rather than doing things I did in the past. I had a chat before the start of the 20th over. We knew and we are clear. And after a couple of years, me and Riyad finishing off the game, it feels really great,” Mushfiqur concluded.
