Ahead of ICC World Cup 2019, the only way the players got to impress selectors is through their performance in Indian Premier League 2019. They have been brilliant for the teams in the domestic circuit and are on standbys list for the major event. Meanwhile, chairman of selectors MSK Prasad feels that their performance in IPL 2019 would help them get the berth.
However, the selection panel has decided 20 players in their list, whose performances will be noticed during the tournament. Those 20 players have already shown their class and experience in the domestic circuit as well.
We have already made up our minds – MSK Prasad
The chairman of selectors MSK Prasad quoted that they have already rounded up names of the players to watch out in IPL 2019. He added that the selection panel isn’t looking for any other rather than those player performances in the upcoming tournament.
”I do not think so, only because we have already made up our minds. We will only be observing the performances of the players we think should be in the squad and the list of stand-byes. We have rounded up on 20 players. We will follow the form of these players,” MSK Prasad said in an interview to ESPN Cricinfo.
IPL will help MS Dhoni continue his form:
In another story, speaking of MS Dhoni, who caught form in the Australia series and followed it in Kiwis series, MSK Prasad believes that Indian Premier League would help him. As Dhoni leads the team, he would hand his services by marshalling the troops from the front.
”Before India head to the World Cup, he will be playing the IPL. So he will be playing in 14-16 matches – all high-intensity games. That will only help him extend that form he has caught on the Australia and New Zealand tours. I am very happy with his batting,” he added.
Well, it would be interesting to see how those 20 members would perform. Perhaps, the selection panel has got a clear idea about their selection for the ICC World Cup 2019 with a handful of backups in the kitty.
