India have registered a complete whitewash in the T20Is and will look to keep up the winning run going when they play West Indies in the first ODI on August 8 (Thursday) at the Province Stadium in Guyana.

The return of the 50-overs cricket will witness few of their regular cricketers – the spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami return to the set-up. This side will have a lot of experience making things more difficult for West Indies. The management will hopefully keep their core intact and will want Shikhar Dhawan to return to form as they play some tough opponents in the next few months.

India will be desperate for winning start as the team will witness a few changes from that of the T20Is.

Here is the predicted playing XI of India for the first of the three-match ODI series against West Indies on August 8 (Thursday) at the Province Stadium in Guyana:

Rohit Sharma has been in the form of his life since the World Cup. The Team India vice-captain will look to keep up his excellent form and give India another swashbuckling start as they look to take a 1-0 lead.

SHIKHAR DHAWAN

Shikhar Dhawan has struggled to put runs on the scoreboard after returning from injury. The southpaw will have to spend some time in the middle as India will want their openers to give a brisk start.

VIRAT KOHLI

Virat Kohli looked in outstanding touch leading the batting from the front. He guided young Rishabh Pant to perfection as they chased down a steep target in the third T20I. The India skipper will be keen to lead the team from the front as they look to continue their winning run.

KL RAHUL

KL Rahul has been inconsistent, which has hurt him badly. The talented batsman needs to show more consistency and shoulder more responsibility as India eye to slove their middle-order woes.

SHREYAS IYER

Shreyas Iyer is one deserving candidate who has waited long for an opportunity. He has scored tons of runs in the domestic circuit and will hope to replicate his form for the Men in Blues if a chance comes his way.

Rishabh Pant will gain a lot of confidence following his match-winning innings in the third and the final T20I. As India look towards him as the successor of MS Dhoni, Pant will have to show more maturity and responsibility going forward.

RAVINDRA JADEJA

Ravindra Jadeja showed why he is so highly-rated during the World Cup. His ability to contribute to all the department makes him a significant component in this line-up. Jadeja will have to shoulder more responsibility in the absence of Hardik Pandya against the West Indies.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done a fantastic job in the last few years in the limited-overs cricket. The Uttar Pradesh-born cricketer has been outstanding both with the new ball and at the death. Kumar will look to continue his game as India look to keep their winning run intact.

MOHAMMED SHAMI

Mohammed Shami has been in a wicket-taking spree during the World Cup. He finished with 14 scalps from five matches in England and will be keen to keep that form going against West Indies.

Yuzvendra Chahal had a very average outing in the World Cup. The leg-spinner will have to be at his best to retain his place in the playing XI in the matches to follow.
