SunRisers Hyderabad, on Friday, beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in the Eliminator of IPL 2020. The David Warner-led side will now lock horns against Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier.

Chasing 132, SRH crossed the finishing line with two balls remaining. Kane Williamson starred with the bat by scoring an unbeaten fifty and got good support from Jason Holder.

Mohammed Siraj gave RCB a good start with the ball by dismissing Shreevats Goswami for a duck in the very first over. It was followed by a 41-run stand between David Warner and Manish Pandey before both of them departed in quick succession to leave their side reeling at 55 for 3 in the ninth over.

Priyam Garg could not do much either before Williamson and Holder took charge. The two shared an unbeaten stand of 65 runs to take their team over the line. Williamson remained unbeaten on 50 while Holder scored 24.

Earlier in the game, RCB finished their innings on a modest 131 for 7. Barring AB de Villiers (56) and Aaron Finch (32), no other batsmen could play any substantial knock. Among the nine players who batted, Mohammed Siraj (10) was the only one after de Villiers and Finch to touch the double-digit mark with the bat.

For SRH, in-form Jason Holder starred with the ball, taking 3 for 25. The West Indies skipper dismissed Virat Kohli for 6 and Devdutt Padikkal for 1 to give SRH a solid start. T Natarajan also made his mark, taking 2 wickets including that of AB de Villiers in the 18th over.

David Warner’s reaction:

Speaking at the end of the game, SRH skipper David Warner started by speaking about his team’s bowling strategy before congratulating pacer T Natarajan for becoming a father earlier in the day.

“We had to beat the top three to make it first, and we had to knock out three again. We had to sort of change our strategy around the first six, bowl Sandy and Jase with 5 in the powerplay, hold Natarajan and Rash for the middle overs. We had to work out a formula and it’s going well,” said David Warner.

“Congratulations to Natarajan and his wife, they had a baby this morning. What a gift for the little one,” he added.

The SRH skipper then proceeded by lavishing praise on Williamson for his batting masterclass. He concluded by speaking a bit about taking on Delhi Capitals in the next game.

“What a masterclass from Kane, he’s done it for years for New Zealand. With the class of batting line up they had, you obviously knew there was something in that wicket with the new ball holding. You had to wait for the ball to be overpitched. The spinners bowled quite slow, fantastic through the middle overs,” said David Warner

“But at end of the day, when you have a guy like Kane at the end [you back him]. Bit close for my liking. Delhi’s a fantastic team, we’ve spoken about their world class bowling. Shikhar is in form, Shreyas as well who is a linchpin for them,” he added.
