Former India captain, MS Dhoni, might be dropped to Grade B from Grade A in BCCI’s central contact list.

It is to be noted that Ramchandra Guha, a former member of COA, questioned his name in Grade A.

He (Dhoni) has already retired from Test format but still was there in Grade A in last year’s contract list.

Players like Murali Vijay, Cheteshwar Pujara – who only play one format – are also on grade A list but they haven’t announced retirement and can make a comeback in the limited-overs format.

Since, he (Dhoni) cannot make a comeback in Test format, it can see Dhoni being dropped to Grade B.

Guha also questioned Rahul Dravid’s role as coach of India A and U19 as he was associated with IPL team, Delhi Daredevils, last year.

This saw Dravid leaving his job in IPL and choosing India side over franchise.

In fact, BCCI made a rule and all the other coaches had to leave their job in IPL if they were to be associated with a BCCI team.

Coaches like Bharat Arun (RCB), R Sridhar (KXIP), Patrick Farhat (KXI[) and Paras Mhambrey (MI) left their job in IPL to be associated with BCCI.

Guha’s question had a major impact on BCCI then and again, that questions can have their impact while BCCI hands over new contracts to players.

Dhoni – if dropped down – might not be the lone player to be demoted.

R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja might also be demoted to Grade B from Grade A.

They have lost their place to Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvndra Chahal in the limited-overs format.

In fact, Chahal and Kuldeep are also in line to be there in Test side too, soon.

Players like Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya are likely to get promotion in the contracts.

Both of them are expected to be promoted to Grade B from Grade C.

Both the players are a member of the Indian team in all the three formats.

In fact, Dhawan was recently also appointed as the vice-captain for Nidahas Trophy 2018.

The BCCI is expected to announce the contract list soon.

The players are also expected to get a major pay hike in this year’s contract list.
