Windies vs England 2019: 1st T20I, St Lucia – Match Report; After an incredible ODI series, it is England, who drew the first blood of the T20I series. The flamboyant batsman Jonny Bairstow and the bowler Tom Curran were the stars for England while Nicholas Pooran’s gritty half-century went in a vain.

Second Inning:

In reply to the chase of 161 runs, England openers Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales looked pretty aggressive in their approach right from the start. However, Alex Hales, who scored a boundary and a massive six walked back with 11 runs to his name.

Meanwhile, Bairstow carried on his scintillating form for the team. He kept them in the chase by a stunning knock of 68 runs off 40 balls. In between, Joe Root’s poor form in T20I format continued as he bagged a golden duck in his account.

The skipper Eoin Morgan failed to show his class in the shorter version of the game, which kept Windies in the game. However, Bairstow got the stability from Joe Denly, who scored 30 runs off 29 balls. Despite Bairstow losing his wicket, Sam Billings and Joe Denly reached England near to the total.

Just when England was about to cross the total, they both lost their wickets. However, Tom Curran and David Willed finished things for the visitors. For Windies, Cottrell picked up 3 wickets while Nurse, Holder and Carlos chipped in with each wicket.

First Inning:

After losing the toss, Windies were put into bat first. Chris Gayle failed to repeat his heroics while Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer were dismissed for cheap scores. Tom Curran has been brilliant with the new ball for the team, who was consistent with his line and lengths.

Just when things looked drifting away, Darren Bravo and Nicholas Pooran added 64 runs for the fourth wicket. It certainly pulled things back for Windies. Though Bravo failed to carry on, Pooran scored a brilliant 58 off 37 balls.

For England, Tom Curran picked up 4 wickets while Chris Jordon bagged a couple of wickets. Adil Rashid and Joe Denly chipped in with one wicket each.

Key players performance:

Initially, it was Nicholas Pooran, who showed his mojo for Windies Cricket Team. In the meantime, Tom Curran was the star with the ball for England, who picked four wickets. When it comes to second innings, Jonny Bairstow thoroughly deserves praises for his gritty knock.

Turning Point of the match:

Tom Curran and Chris Jordon spell in the powerplay overs was the turning point of the match. They sent Windies’ top three batsmen for cheap scores. Otherwise, it would have been a different story to tell you.
