Windies vs England 2019: 2nd Test Match, Barbados – Day 1 Report. The Windies have continued their domination over the visitors England. After winning the first Test match by a gargantuan margin of 381 runs, the hosts have once again put their noses in front after winning the opening day. The Windies bowlers continued to impress after Jason Holder won the toss and decided to bowl first.

The tourists got off to a worse possible start when they lost both their openers cheaply. Kemar Roach who had taken a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the first Test match continued his penchant of hunting down the English batsmen.

Roach once again provided a perfect start after he accounted for Rory Burns in the fifth over of the day. Alzarri Joseph scalped the second wicket when he dismissed debutant Joe Denly.

England’s wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow took the attack on the opposition when the chips were down. Bairstow scored a valiant fifty off 64 balls with the help of nine fours and one six. However, the visitors kept losing wickets to find themselves behind the eighth-ball.

England was once again in tatters when they lost five wickets for 78 runs. Furthermore, the tourists found themselves at sea after losing the wicket of Ben Stokes. However, Ben Foakes who impressed in his debut series against Sri Lanka and Moeen Ali bailed their team out of trouble.

Ali and Foakes added a vital alliance of 85 runs to keep their side in the match. However, both of them were dismissed in quick succession to once leave their team on the backfoot.

On the other hand, Kemar Roach scalped four wickets. Shannon Gabriel and Alazarri Joseph scalped three and two wickets respectively to skittle out the tourists for a paltry score of 187 runs.

The Windies opening pair of Kraigg Brathwaite and John Campbell were able to keep the England bowlers at bay as they returned back to the dressing room without any damage in the wickets column.
