Windies Vs England 2019: Windies Names Chris Gayle In 14-Member Squad For First 2 ODI Games

Well, it has been a brilliant Test series for Windies back home against England and Wales Cricket Board. Following the success, they have named 14-member squad for the first couple of ODI games. The major headliner in the squad is Chris Gayle, who has been called back after missing the ODI format from last one year.

Chris Gayle ignored playing against India in the limited overs series, who opted to play Afghanistan Premier League. However, as he said in the interview, he has been back in the side to play home series against the flamboyant English side.

Nicholas Pooran receives a maiden call-up:

Another major news from the squad is that Windies handed a maiden call-up for the talented Nicholas Pooran. He will be joining the brilliant bunch of squad for the first couple of ODI games in the 5-match ODI series. Perhaps, they want to test him ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019, as a backup wicketkeeper.

Well, coming to the rest of the guys, they have relied their trust on Jason Holder to lead the side. In the batting department, alongside Gayle, Shai Hope, Evin Lewis, Darren Bravo and Shimron Hetmyer finds a place.

Further, Fabien Allen, Rovman Powell takes all-rounder slots alongside skipper Jason Holder. The fast bowling section has got the likes of experienced Kemar Roach and the talented youngsters Oshane Thomas and Keemo Paul.

As far as the spin department is concerned, there ever-reliable Ashley Nurse and Devendra Bishoo find a place. All in all, it seems like Windies has announced a decent set of people in their squad.

Coming to the schedule, after completing the final Test, they both will be locking horns for five times in the ODI format of the game. The 5-match ODI series will be followed by 3-match T20I series.
