Wisden Names Test Team Of The Decade; Only 2 Indians Make The Cut

The last decade has witnessed some of the great cricketers entertain the fans with their impeccable display of sportsmanship. As the decade comes to an end, Wisden has released a Test team considering the performance of the players over the last ten years, and only two Indians have made the cut.

Wisden’s Decade in the Review panel picked the best playing XI for the traditional format of the game. South Africans and players from England dominate the elite XI. Three players each from England and Proteas feature in the playing XI. Only two Indians have managed to make the cut along with two players from Australia and one from Sri Lanka.

Kohli & Ashwin make into Wisden Test Team of the Decade

Meanwhile, only two cricketers from India – Virat Kohli and Ravichandran Ashwin have made it into Wisdens Test Team of the decade. Kohli and Ashwin have been two of the vital cogs behind India’s success in recent years. The Indian skipper is currently the No. 1 batsman in Tests while Ashwin has 362 wickets to his name from 70 matches.

Wisden has picked left-handed duo of Alastair Cook and David Warner as openers while former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara will follow at No. 3. Steve Smith and AB de Villiers will complete the middle order alongside Virat Kohli. Ben Stokes, who helped England draw the Ashes is the lone all-rounder in the squad. The pace attack comprises of two South African fast bowlers – Dale Steyn and Kagiso Rabada along with England veteran James Anderson.
