Indian Women’s Cricket Team suffered a heart-breaking defeat against Australia in the Semi-Final. The Women in Blue lost the match by 5 runs. Harmanpreet Kaur played a terrific knock of 52 runs and almost pulled off a heist before she was run out. Harmanpreet Kaur‘s captaincy now is under the scanner.

The Women in Blue don’t have reliable match-finishers at the back end of the innings as every time the top order won’t win the matches for the team. BCCI would be hoping that the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2023) proves to be a game-changer for the Indian Women’s Cricket Team.

Michael Clarke on Harmanpreet Kaur

Michael Clarke was having an interaction with Boria Majumdar and was asked about Harmanpreet Kaur’s run-out against Australia in Semi-Final.

“If the bat didn’t get stuck then she would have been in. But that happens in a game. If that runout didn’t happen then Australia would have found it difficult to make a comeback in the game. Worst luck at the worst time for Harmanpreet.” said Michael Clarke.

Exciting WPL 2023 on Cards

BCCI’s decision to allow 5 overseas players in the playing 11 will make the contest spicier. Cricket Experts also believe that WPL can surpass Women’s BBL & England’s Hundred. It is tipped that this league can change the face of the Women’s Cricket Team. With all the matches to be played in Mumbai, we can expect high-scoring matches and even contests between bat & ball.

WPL 2023 is set to be played from 4th March to 26th March. It would be interesting to see whether WPL 2023 can grab the attention of the viewers as, during that period, BGT 2023 & India vs Australia ODI Series would be taking place. With 3 out of 5 teams being owned by IPL Franchises: Mumbai Indians (MI), Delhi Capitals (DC) & Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), we can expect fierce competition.
