South Africa and Afghanistan will be eyeing their first win of the World Cup 2019 when they lock horns against each other in Cardiff. Both the teams are winless in the World Cup so far and are thus languishing at the bottom of the points table. Afghanistan are languishing at the bottom of the points table after losing all of their opening three games.

South Africa, on the other hand, are ninth in the points table with one point from four game. After losing their opening three games, their fourth against West Indies was washed out. Time is fast running out for both the teams and a loss in the upcoming game will very well end their hopes of progressing ahead.

With neither of the two teams in great form at the moment, they should fancy their chances and use this game as a spring board to mark a revival.

South Africa won the toss and decided to bowl first against Afghanistan in the twenty-first match of the World Cup 2019.

“We are going to have a bowl first. Just the nature of the pitch as it has been raining a lot. We haven’t played any cricket since that game. So, there was no need to change the team. We have had some really good team chats and hopefully we can execute that.”

Gulbadin Naib:

“Honestly I would have liked to bowl first as well. The whole last week it has been raining. We have practised for the last 3-4 days and hopefully we do well. There is one change, Najibullah is not playing and Asghar is playing. He is an experienced player and we need to have him on the field.”
