Hosts and favourites England will be looking to continue their winning run when they take on Pakistan in the sixth game of World Cup 2019. England began their campaign with a thumping 104-win over South Africa. On the other hand, Pakistan lost their tournament-opener against West Indies by 7 wickets. The Men in Green have lost their last 11 ODIs and need to play out of their skins to beat high-flying England.

Pitch report:

This has been a pitch that the bowlers have struggled to defend on and the reason for that is the longer dimensions at the pavillion end. Square boundaries are very short and that makes things difficult for the bowling side. This is a lot drier and harder surface. Good for batting and the bowlers will struggle. Lot of variations needed as a bowler. Win the toss and bat,” say Wasim Akram and Kumar Sangakkara.

Toss Report:

England won the toss and elected to field first against Pakistan in the sixth match of this year’s World Cup.

Here is what the captains said:

Eoin Morgan:

“We’re gonna bowl first. Looks a good wicket and the dimensions are smaller than The Oval. So we need to look at all that. We have one change – Wood comes in for Plunkett. Reason for this is the genuine pace that he provides. A bit yes and also he bowled well in the recent series against them. We’re always looking to improve and striving to give a perfect performance. Of course you don’t get near to it all the time but if you try to get there, you’re in a good space”

Sarfaraz Ahmed:

“I also wanted to bowl first. Looks a good batting pitch, so we’re hoping to put runs on the board and defend. I think it’s a one-off performance and hoping to get things right today. Yes, we batted well against them in the recent series and hopefully, that will continue.”
