There is no doubt about the fact that Wriddhiman Saha is the first choice wicket-keeper for the national team in Tests.

However, he had a pretty mediocre season with the bat in the recently concluded Indian Premier League. Plying his trade for the eventual runners-up, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Saha was quite ordinary. He sustained an injury during the middle of the tournament which prevented him from playing in a few games.

Saha would have been eager to get some runs behind him ahead of the tough tour of England. However, it didn’t transpire the way he would have liked.

In a Twitter question asked by one of his fans, Saha gave a pretty interesting and very few would have known that Saha was once inclined to this particular sport.

“If not cricket, what he (Saha) would have loved to do?” he was asked.

In reply, Saha revealed if he had enough money he would have wanted to become a formula one racer.

“If I had a lot of money, I have a childhood dream of becoming a formula one racer. When I was a kid, I used to wake up till 3-4 am to follow formula 1. I would have surely loved to be a formula one driver. But we don’t have enough money currently,” Saha said.

Before the Indian Premier League, Saha hogged the limelight with a stunning knock of 102 off 20 deliveries. It was a group match of the JC Mukherjee Trophy match.

India is missing the services of Wriddhiman Saha for the ongoing one-off Test against Afghanistan after sustaining a thumb injury during the IPL.

He played the final with the injury. However, he requires rest now to be fit for the tough tour of England. The KKR skipper in the IPL, Dinesh Karthik was called in as the replacement of Saha.

He has been simply brilliant in the limited-overs cricket off late and should hope to replace him perfectly. Meanwhile, Karthik will be playing a Test match after eight years.
