Indeed, there is no love lost between MS Dhoni and Yograj Singh, Yuvraj Singh’s father. It is notable that ever since Yuvraj Singh’s turmoil in international cricket took place, Yograj Singh has been firing shots at MS Dhoni and the Indian team management for ending his son’s career.

Yograj Singh has been pretty vocal about his feelings and has also accused MS Dhoni and the BCCI of doing partiality with Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj’s demise in international cricket began after the 2011 world cup when he was diagnosed with cancer. Ever since his departure from the Indian team, Yuvraj couldn’t find a regular place in the Indian side, and when he wasn’t given a chance in the 2019 world cup, Yuvraj Singh retired from all forms of international cricket.

However, Yuvraj’s father, Yograj Singh, believes that it is more because of conspiracy than Yuvraj’s performances that the former all-rounder has been made to wait for a place in the team for so long.

Citing the example of Sourav Ganguly, another great Indian captain, Yograj opined that while Ganguly did a lot to groom youngsters in the team, Dhoni did not do much.

“I want to ask him he has played for so many years for India, what has he done for any cricketer? Cricketers would have praised him had he done something for other cricketers. Sourav Ganguly’s status is so high become he thought about himself, his country, as well as his team,” Yograj Singh told News24.

Yograj Singh Opens Up On MS Dhoni’s Future With Team India

Dhoni’s future has been one of the biggest talking points in Indian cricket over the last 8-10 months. The Ranchi cricketer hasn’t played international cricket since the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand.

Dhoni was last seen in the Indian colours in the semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Unfortunately, India lost the game to New Zealand and were eliminated from the competition. Since then, Dhoni has been away from the Indian team.

His return was much anticipated with the return of IPL 2020 this year as he was back to the field sweating it hard for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). However, the BCCI had to postpone the tournament indefinitely due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. And, this has again given way to speculations on Dhoni’s future with Team India.

When asked whether he should hang his boots, Yograj added, “Dhoni is one of the greatest cricketers India has ever produced. Whatever he has achieved shows his greatness. Favouritism still exists in India. Till the time you will continue to lick boots, be in good terms with the top bosses, till that time all your wishes will get fulfilled. Whether Dhoni wants to play more or not, it also depends on what the selectors and the board think. If he wants, he will be back in the team, if he doesn’t want, he won’t be back.”

Recently, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star batsman Suresh Raina said MS Dhoni did not show any signs of ageing and that he was hitting the big sixes at will, as usual during the training camp in Chennai. Laxmipathy Balaji, the bowling coach of Chennai Super Kings, also vouched for MS Dhoni’s return.

On the other hand, former wicketkeeper-batsman, Deep Dasgupta had said that MS Dhoni should have kept playing domestic cricket if he aspired a return to the Indian team. Kris Srikkanth also noted that if the IPL does not take place, Dhoni’s return looks impossible. Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra also had similar views to those of Srikkanth.
