Team India head coach recently got an extension for a second term and will be with the side till the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. The decision garnered mixed reactions, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president asserted Sourav Ganguly that the head coach got an extension because the team has produced results under his tenure. He also said that if the team doesn’t perform, then somebody else will take over.

When Sourav Ganguly was appointed as the president of BCCI, the move was welcomed from all quarters considering the former Indian captain remains to be one of the most widely respected cricketers across the globe. With a sharp cricketing brain, Ganguly seemed to be the perfect man to clear BCCI’s mess.

Considering the past of Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri, fans were intrigued to witness a meeting between the duo. However, it seems that two of the legendary players of India have moved on from their past differences, as Ravi Shastri recently showered words of praise on Ganguly for his incredible work so far as a player and an administrator.

Speaking of the same, Sourav Ganguly stated that he has no answers to all the speculations surrounding him and Ravi Shastri. He explained that every individual would continue in the role if they deliver the best to the team. If the concerned individual fails to make the most of the opportunity, the BCCI president clarified that someone else would replace him.

“That’s why it’s speculation. I don’t have an answer to it. It’s pretty simple. It’s about performance. You perform, you continue or else somebody else would take over. It’s a simple formula,” Ganguly said at the India Today’s East Conclave in Kolkata on Friday.

During the tenure of Ravi Shastri, India won their first-ever Test series in Australia earlier this year after missing out on opportunities to beat England and South Africa on the road. Shastri’s side also became the first-ever Indian team to win an ODI series in South Africa when they beat the Proteas 2-1 in 2018. However, Ravi Shastri failed to lead India to victory in ICC events.
