He had to undergo multiple surgeries, including an emergency procedure to remove a blood clot from his brain due to head injuries. However, there is positive news that he has been making steady progress towards his recovery.

In late August of last year, a local cricket official named Jason Sathiaseelan informed The Witness newspaper that Mondli Khumalo was going to return home to undergo one final medical procedure in the UK.

Although a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm for the attack on Mondli Khumalo, the case appears to have stalled since then.
