Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has kept aside the poor bilateral relation between India and Pakistan as he wished Yuvraj Singh on his retirement. The Indian stalwart brought down curtains on his glorious career on Monday. After serving the nation for close to two decades, Yuvraj retired from international cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Yuvraj Singh recently turned up for Mumbai Indians in the IPL but did not have a great season. He started the season with a fine fifty but soon lost his form. The southpaw played only the first four games of the season and warmed the bench thereafter as Mumbai went on to win the title. As far as his international career is concerned, he last played for India in 2017.

Yuvraj has said that he would be looking to play in other T20 leagues outside the nation. The left-handed batsman said that he is hopeful of getting the green light from the BCCI.

“I want to go and play T20 cricket. At this age, I can play some kind of fun cricket, I want to go and enjoy my life. I don’t care about pressure and performing in big tournaments like IPL. With BCCI permission, I would love to go and play,” Yuvraj said while announcing his retirement.

“It’s been long and hard journey, I think I deserve that. I have had a word with BCCI and obviously I’ll have another word after this announcement. Hopefully it will be easy sailing for me,” he added.

Well, the cricketing world would definitely love to see this cricketing legend play for few more days. And as Yuvraj Singh gears up for his retirement days, Shahid Afridi has left a beautiful message for him. The legendary allrounder took to Twitter to wish Yuvraj on a fantastic career, writing:

“Congratulations on a fantastic career @YUVSTRONG12 You were an amazing batsman and a brilliant fielder with big match temperament. Your fighting ability is very inspiring, we spent great time together. All the very best in your life ahead.”
