Kolkata Knight Riders sprung a big surprise on Wednesday with their decision of sending Sunil Narine to bat at number four against Chennai Super Kings. As expected, the hard-hitting tail-ender was not sent out to open the innings after his failures in the previous games.

When Rahul Tripathi came out to open the innings with Shubman Gill, it was expected that Narine would bat in the lower order. But to everyone’s surprise, he was sent out to bat at number four ahead of the likes of Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell and captain Dinesh Karthik.

Narine did not score big but did manage to swing his bat to score 17 off 9 balls. In the end, he was the joint second highest score of the innings as the likes of Russell, Morgan and Karthik could not deliver with the bat. KKR, nonetheless, went on to win the game by ten wickets.
