Yuvraj Singh, the former Indian swashbuckling all-rounder, has been pretty active on social media these days. With the entire world under a lockdown, cricketers are resorting to plethora of activities on social media including Instagram live sessions with fellow players.

And, Yuvraj has been leading the way by a mile. On Monday, Singh conducted another Instagram live session and this time guest was his partner in crime during his playing days, Mohammad Kaif. The duo talked about a plethora of topics related to cricket, one of them being the pressure that a fat Indian Premier League paycheck brings with itself.

Yuvraj said that while the hefty paycheck does not changes a player, the pressure mounts on him big time as more and more people try to pull him down.

“The pressure is felt because of the big money. I won’t say it changes a player. Now when you climb the success ladder, people try to drag you down,” Yuvraj said in an Instagram Live session with Mohammad Kaif.

He added: “See the point is…pressure is there because when you get out and don’t perform they say he is getting so much money and not performing. Negative news sells more and those things affect you. My advice to all youngsters would be to stay away from TV and newspapers,” opined the 38-year-old left-hander.

For the uninitiated, Yuvraj was the most expensive buy in the 2014 and 2016 seasons. While the southpaw was racked up Rs 14.5 Crore by Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore, he went for Rs 16 Crore two years later courtesy the Delhi Daredevils.

The pressure of an hefty paycheck can really get to a player and we have seen that with Rajasthan Royals Jaydev Unadkat in the 2018 season where every time he faltered, he was criticized to the hilt by the fans on social media.

Yuvraj, on the other hand, played for Mumbai Indians in the last season of the IPL. The southpaw did not get much game time and following the season, he announced his retirement from International cricket.
