Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has named India and England as favourites to win upcoming 2019 World Cup. While speaking at an event, Yuvraj named India and England as top two teams to win the World Cup followed by Australia.

“My first two teams are England and India. Obviously with [David] Warner and [Steven] Smith coming back [from their ball-tampering bans], Australia will be in contention. West Indies also look a very power-packed side. You can’t say much at this stage. I think it would be India and England first, third would be Australia. Fourth I don’t know. I will tell you later…,” he said.

Further, he also showered praises on his IPL teammate Hardik Pandya, who has been in fine form in the tournament with the bat. While speaking about him, Yuvraj said he hopes the all-rounder to continue his form in the tournament.

“Definitely, the way he (Pandya) is batting at the moment, it is phenomenal and I hope he carries that form (into the World Cup). He has been bowling well in patches but as I said it is all about how you handle the pressure… I just hope that Hardik has an awesome tournament, the way he is batting at the moment,” Yuvraj further added.

Many of the experts have rated India and England as favourites for World Cup 2019 and it is a fact that these two teams will be the teams to look out for in the tournament. Both the teams have the best opening pairs and also one of the best bowling units.

India also have a complete all-rounder in form of Hardik Pandya, who can also act as the third pacer if the need arises. England, on the other hand, have Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes in that role. In fact, Woakes also performs the role of new ball bowler, which adds to his strength.

Apart from these two teams, Australia and West Indies, as Yuvraj mentioned, will also be the teams to look out for. Australia have been boosted by the comebacks of Steve Smith and David Warner, who are now done with their one-year bans. West Indies will also have the services of Chris Gayle and other senior players.

Talking of Yuvraj, he is currently part of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2019 but isn’t a regular in playing XI. He has played four matches so far and has scored 98 runs. The chances of him getting another game in the tournament are bleak.

Yuvraj played his previous match for India in 2017 and has been out of the team since the tour of West Indies, where India travelled after ICC Champions Trophy.
