Following a poor show against the Australia Women’s Cricket Team, the former Indian Women cricketer, who is currently a member of CoA panel Diana Edulji slammed the Indian Women’s Team for their poor show against Australia. She asked the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur to call it quits if she can’t handle the job.

The Indian women’s team lost the T20 tri-series final against Australia on Wednesday, succumbing in the chase of 156 runs despite Smriti Mandhana‘s valiant 66 off 37 deliveries.

They were always ahead in the chase and looked like finishing the task in a quick time. But, it wasn’t the case, as India lost the game by 11 runs.

However, recently legendary Sachin Tendulkar has effusively praised India’s women’s team.

There is something wrong with this team – Diana Edulji

In the tri-series, India won and lost a game each against Australia and England in the league stage before faltering against the hosts in the final. The team is prone to crumble under pressure in big games.

Diana was sceptical of the way the Indian team performs in crucial matches and ends up losing the battles despite putting themselves in promising positions to win the match.

“There is something wrong with this team. This is a team that can win every game and it does win from an unlikely situation but the next game it is losing from a comfortable position like it did today. They are simply not consistent enough,” Edulji told news agency PTI.

“They have all the facilities at their disposal now, at par with men, and yet they have not been able to play consistent cricket and win ICC trophies. If they play like the way they are playing, they will make the semifinals again (at T20 World Cup) but I don’t see them winning the trophy,” Edulji added.

Jemimah Rodrigues needs to pull up:

Further, Edulji questioned the athleticism of the Indian players whom she thinks do not go for that extra run. Also, the former CoA member called for resignation from Indian captain Harmanpreet.

“They are so lazy that they never try for a second. These are the things that make all the difference. It is a single or a boundary, there is nothing in between,” said Edulji.

“Both Harmanpreet and Jemimah need to pull up their socks. Maybe Harman should give up captaincy and play her natural game. Something seems to be troubling her. But who else takes over then. If Smriti is handed captaincy, it might affect her batting too,” maintained Edulji.
