During ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, India defeated Pakistan by 89 runs at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in England. After the match, Rohit trolled a Pakistani journalist during the press conference. The Pakistani journalist asked Rohit, “What will you suggest to Pakistani batsmen, to come out of this crisis?”.

To this, Rohit gave a witty reply that he will tell them if he becomes Pakistan’s coach. “If I become Pakistan’s coach, I will definitely tell them”. Rohit’s response made everyone laugh.

MS Dhoni’s birthday falls on July 7 and team India were in the middle of the World Cup 2019 tournament in England at that time. When a journalist asked the question, Sharma gave a funny reply saying, “What do you tell someone on their birthday? Happy birthday only right?”.

Sharma later mentioned that they will cut the cake during the bus drive as they have a travel day. “We have our travel day tomorrow and we don’t know we are going to Manchester or Birmingham. Sharma smashed a century in both the innings (176 and 127) in the 1st Test and was awarded player of the match after India’s victory in the game. During the press conference, Sharma told journalists that he had to perform otherwise media would have written against him.

“A lot could have happened had I not performed and you guys (media) would have written a lot about me). So it was about making most of the opportunities I got. I knew I had to make full use of it, otherwise, media would have written against me. Now I know everyone will write good things about me,” Sharma said.

During the ICC World Cup 2019 match between India and England, Rishabh came out to bat at the no.4 spot ahead of Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni. India were railing at 146-2 when Rishabh Pant arrived on the crease. Rohit was the other batsman on the crease at that time. During the post-match press conference, a journalist asked Rohit if he was surprised to see Pant coming out to bat at no. 4 instead of Hardik Pandya.

During a T20I match between India and Bangladesh in 2019, stand-in captain Sharma was caught swearing on camera. The incident happened in the 13th. Wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant successfully stumped out Soumya Sarkar off Yuzvendra Chahal’s delivery. The on-field umpire referred the decision to 3rd umpire. Due to a technical glitch, the giant screen showed ‘Not Out’ instead of ‘Out’. Sharma lost his cool and was caught on camera using cuss words. Soon, the giant screen changed its decision to out.

When Sharma was questioned about his rage and anger during the moment, he jokingly said that next time he will check where the camera is. “I’m quite an emotional guy on the field. Some of the decisions in the previous and some of the on-field moments today, we were a bit sloppy. Ultimately the aim is to get the job done, and sometimes we display a lot of emotions. Next time I’ll check where the camera is”, he said.
