ENG vs IND: Suryakumar Yadav Has To Play In The First ODI: Michael Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes Suryakumar Yadav’s place in India’s starting XI for the first One-Day International against England should be settled. On Tuesday, July 12, the two sides will square off at The Oval.
In the third T20I, the 31-year-old batted brilliantly, scoring 117 off 55 deliveries. He almost single-handedly propelled the Men in Blue to a record-breaking victory, but they fell short by 17 runs in the end.
Yadav, according to Vaughan, is too good to be left out and should be in the starting XI.
Suryakumar Yadav Has Just Played The Most Ridiculous Innings: Michael Vaughan
Michael Vaughan revealed to Cricbuzz ahead of the ODI series how vital it is for Virat Kohli to fire. This is what the 47-year-old said about India’s composition for the first ODI:
“India have got so much quality and depth that they have just got to get the combinations right. SKY has to play, he just played the most ridiculous innings.
“The pinnacle point will be Virat and I think that’s where the series will be highlighted. India needs Virat to get back in form. From what I saw here, he is not far away. The talk will be about ‘Can he get that hundred?'”
If Kohli is fit to play the first ODI, the team management may choose between Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer at No. 4 and No. 5. However, former Indian left-arm bowler Zaheer Khan, who was also a member of the Cricbuzz panel, believes both batsmen may play.
He stated, “Both can play (Suryakumar & Shreyas). It depends a lot on how the team is thinking, so we will have to wait and see. But as things stand, Surya deserves a go.”
If Kohli fails to recuperate from his reported groin injury in time, Suryakumar Yadav might play a key role in the first ODI. India will need him to capitalise on his recent form if they are to win the series.
