On Wednesday, September 7, England National Cricket Team announced their playing XI for the third match of the three-match Test series against the South Africa National Cricket.

The three-match Test series between Dean Elgar’s South Africa and Ben Stokes’ England is currently levelled at 1-1. The Proteas won the first Test match by an innings and 12 runs and The Three Lions won the second Test match by an innings and 85 runs.

The third match of the Test series, which will be the series decider, will commence at the Kennington Oval in London on Thursday, September 8.

England have made one change to their playing XI for the third Test as Yorkshire batter Harry Brook has replaced Jonny Bairstow, who got ruled out of the match with an injury.

England Star Jonny Bairstow Got Ruled Out After Suffering Freak Injury

Star wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow has been ruled out of the third match of the Test series against South Africa and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, which is set to be played in October-November in Australia.

On Friday, September 2, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) released an official statement in which it was stated that the 32-year-old Yorkshire wicketkeeper-batsman “sustained a lower limb injury in a freak accident whilst playing golf.”

“England and Yorkshire batter Jonathan Bairstow has been ruled out of the rest of the summer and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Bairstow sustained a lower limb injury in a freak accident whilst playing golf on Friday in Leeds. He will see a specialist next week to ascertain the full extent of the injury,” England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said in an official statement on Friday.
