West Indies are all set to face England in a three-match Test series at home. The first Test match is scheduled to be played from 8th to 12th March 2022 at Sir Viv Richards Stadium in Antigua. They lost their last Test series against Sri Lanka and thus would look to get back to winning ways. Heading into the first Test of the series, here’s a look at our predicted playing XI of the West Indies Cricket Team.

WI vs ENG: West Indies’ Predicted Playing XI Against England, West Indies vs England, 1st Test

Openers: Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood

Kraigg Brathwaite and Jermaine Blackwood should open the innings for the team. Both are experienced members and key to West Indies’ fortune in the series. Brathwaite scored 119 runs in 2 Tests at 29.75 in the last Test series, while Blackwood amassed 109 runs in 2 Tests.

Middle-Order: Nkrumah Bonner, Shamarh Brooks, Kyle Mayers, and Joshua Da Silva

Nkrumah Bonner will be the biggest bet for West Indies in the batting unit. He is a pretty good touch. The West Indies cricketer scored the most runs for his team in the last Test series. Shamarh Brooks and Kyle Mayers too are rising through the ranks and are likely to form a potent middle-order.

All-rounders: Jason Holder

Jason Holder should make the cut for the first Test. He deepens the batting unit which should keep the team confident of posting solid totals on the board. Besides, he gives that extra option with the ball. Holder has the ability to swing the ball both ways and thus can be used to open the bowling attack. He had a forgettable outing in the last Test series, having managed to pick only 1 wicket in 2 Tests. Holders will look to make amends in the upcoming series.

Bowlers: Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, Veerasammy Permaul, Anderson Phillip

Kemar Roach should lead the fast bowling department. He is a mainstay in the Test bowling attack and will continue to be part of the team. He will share the fast bowling duties with Alzarri Joseph and Anderson Phillip. The latter has been drafted into the Test after exhibiting outstanding performances in the West Indies Championship. Besides, Veerasammy Permaul is likely to be the lone spinner in the playing XI.
