Sri Lanka and West Indies will square off against each other in the second Test match at Galle International Stadium from 29th November to 3rd December. Sri Lanka hunted down the West Indies team one-sided in the first Test at the same venue and will be eyeing for a clean sweep here.

In the first Test, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. Their openers got off to a flying start and stitched 139 runs for the opening wicket. Towards the end of their innings, they piled up 386 runs on the board in the first innings.

Skipper Karunaratne led from the front, and brought up another century (147), while Dhananjaya, Nissanka and Chandimal stacked 61 runs, 56 runs, and 45 runs respectively for the side. Roston Chase picked a perfect 5-wicket haul, while Warrican and Gabriel picked 3 wickets and 2 wickets respectively.

West Indies could manage just 230 runs in the first innings, none of their batters crossed even the 50-run mark. Jayawickrama and Ramesh Mendis picked 4 wickets and 3 wickets respectively.

Coming to bat with a 150+ lead, Sri Lanka declared at 191 for the loss of 4 wickets. Karunaratne was the top scorer once again (83), followed by the experienced Angelo Mathews (69*). Warrican and Cornwall picked 2 wickets each.

A target of 347 was set for the visitors. Despite the fight by Nkrumah Bonner (68* of 220) and Joshua Da Silva (54 of 129), West Indies could manage just 160 runs and ended up facing a massive defeat by 187 runs. Lasith Embuldeniya grabbed a 5-wicket haul, while Ramesh Mendis picked a 4-wicket haul.

Sri Lankan skipper Dimuth Karunaratne was awarded the player of the game title due to his extraordinary batting performance (147 off 300 balls in the 1st innings & 83 off 104 balls in the 2nd innings).

This is an excellent opportunity for Sri Lanka to sweep the West Indian side, while the West Indies will be eyeing a great comeback to end the series at the level.
