There has been a lot of buzz around Pakistan’s participation in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after BCCI refused to travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. According to reports, PCB wants a neutral venue for their matches which looks unlikely to happen. Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi wants PCB to play WC 2023 in India. Shahid Afridi made a massive remark and said to Pakistani players that they can play at any place and beat the teams.

With less than 6 months required for the ODI WC 2023, the sides would be keen to find an ideal combination. The Men in Green recently won ODI Series against New Zealand by 4-1 which was staged in April-May 2023.

PCB also had threatened that they would boycott the marquee ODI WC 2023 if India don’t come to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023. ICC must intervene in this issue as the two giants of World Cricket have a huge pedigree, we witnessed contests in the 2021 T20 WC & 2022 T20 WC.

We can expect a cracker of a contest when India & Pakistan would face off in ODI WC 2023 as the rivalry between the two nations is getting bigger than ever. India had defeated Pakistan in the 2011 WC Semi-Final contest under the leadership of the then-skipper MS Dhoni.

Shahid Afridi was having an interaction with the media. Shahid Afridi stated that PCB should send its team to India for WC 2023 as an international tournament is happening. Shahid Afridi was quite furious and said that winning the marquee tournament in India would be the biggest achievement.

“I don’t understand why they [PCB] are so adamant and keep saying that we won’t go to India. They need to simplify the situation and understand that an international cricket tournament is happening – take it rather positively; go and play. Tell your boys to get the trophy; the whole nation stands behind you. It’ll not only be a big win for us but a tight slap in the face of BCCI,” said Shahid Afridi.

“Go to India, play decent cricket and claim the win. This is it; we have only this option resorted to ourselves. We are supposed to go there, land back with the World Cup and give them a steer clear message that we can go anywhere and bag the victory,” he added.
