The 27th match of the IPL 2021 will have Afghanistan take on Namibia at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. Afghanistan made an ideal start to their Super 12 campaign after registering a 130-run win over Scotland. However, they failed to replicate a similar performance on Friday as they lost to Pakistan by 5 wickets.

Afghanistan got off to the worst possible start after winning the toss and opting to bat first. They lost 4 wickets for just 36 runs, which further became 76 for 6. However, an unbeaten 71-run partnership between M Nabi (35 off 32) and Gulbadin (35 off 25) helped the team post 147 runs in the first innings.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman, once again, exhibited a brilliant spell in the powerplay as he gave away just 14 runs in 4 overs, including the wicket of M Rizwan. His accuracy and variation denied Pakistan to get a great start.
M Nabi and Adil Rashid kept it tight in the middle overs and took the crucial wickets of Fakhar Zaman, M Hafeez and B Azam in the 12th, 15th and 17th over respectively. With 24 needed in 2 overs, the match was evenly poised. However, Asif Ali took everyone by surprise after hitting four sixes in the penultimate over to finish the game with ease.
On the other hand, Namibia are coming into the game on the back of a morale-boosting 4-wicket win over Scotland in their first game of the Super 12 stage. An exceptional bowling display led by Ruben Trumplemann helped Namibia restrict Scotland to just 109 runs in the first innings. Trumplemann picked 3 for 17 in 4 overs, while Jan Frylinck finished with figures of 2 for 10 in 4 overs.

Namibia lost wickets at regular intervals in pursuit of the chase. However, a match-winning 23-ball 32 from JJ Smith helped the team chase down the score eventually in 19.1 overs. Ahead of their second game of the Super 12s, Namibia would be keen to continue their dream run in the tournament.
