Pakistan will play their third match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 against Afghanistan on Monday. They have been ruthless in the tournament thus far. Babar Azam and Co. are coming into the game on the back of two morale-boosting wins.

In their first game, a collective bowling effort helped Pakistan restrict India to 151 in the first innings. Shaheen Shah Afridi was the standout performer with the ball, picking 3 for 31 in 4 overs. Pakistan didn’t lose a single wicket while chasing down the score. Babar Azam and M Rizwan stayed unbeaten on 79 and 68 respectively.

The second game saw Haris Rauf break New Zealand back as he picked four wickets for just 22 runs in 4 overs. New Zealand, as a result, were restricted to just 134 runs in the first innings. New Zealand bowlers, however, fought hard and sent half of Pakistan’s side back to the hut for 87 runs in fifteen overs.

However, Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali batted brilliantly thereafter and shared an unbeaten 48-run partnership to take their team home. Asif made 27 off just 12 deliveries, while Shoaib Malik amassed 26 off 20 deliveries.

Facing them are Afghanistan, which began its Super 12 campaign with a massive 130-run win against Scotland. Significant contributions from the top four batsmen helped the team reach a daunting 190-run on a slow wicket.

Hazratullah Zazai (44 off 30) and Mohammad Shahzad (22 off 15) gave the team a brilliant start, while the likes of Gurbaz (46 off 37) and Najibullah (59 off 34) capitalized on that brilliantly. Afghanistan spinners were equally brilliant with the ball.

Mujeeb Ur-Rahman ran through the top-order as he picked 5 wickets for just 20 runs in four overs. Rashid Khan came in the attack after the power play and he didn’t take too long to showcase his class. In just 2.2 overs, he managed to pick four wickets for just 9 runs, helping the side bundle out Scotland for just 60. Ahead of their second game against Pakistan, Afghanistan would look to continue their winning run.

Dubai International Cricket Stadium will play host to the 24th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The pitch in Dubai bods well for the batsmen. Amongst three stadiums in UAE, batsmen have enjoyed batting the most here in Dubai.

Having said that, pacers should get some extra bounce and movement early on. The dimensions are pretty big and the spinners are going to make good use of that. Though, there isn’t much spin on offer for them.

Both teams would like to bowl first upon winning the toss.
