Be it spinners or the pacers, all the bowlers bowled well and thus bundled out Australia for just 125 runs in the first innings. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 for 17 in 4 overs, while Chris Woakes and Tymal Mills picked two wickets each.

Jos Buttler exhibited his power-hitting display in the second innings. He scored an unbeaten 71 off 32 balls to help England chase down the score in just 11.4 overs. England are more or less in the semi-finals. Having said that they would look to continue the winning momentum ahead of the game on Monday.

Sri Lanka on the other hand, are sitting at number four on the points table, having registered only one victory in the Super 12s so far. It could have been two wins had Lahiru Kumara held his nerves in the final over of the game. Sri Lanka batted first in that game and notched a 142-run total in the first innings.

Barring opener Pathum Nissanka, none of the batsmen got going. Courtesy of an impressive bowling display from South Africa, Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Pathum Nissanka held firm and took the team to a reasonable total. He scored 72 off 58 deliveries, including 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Sri Lanka made a pretty good start with the ball as Chameera sent both the South African openers back to the hut inside the powerplay. Russie Van der Dussen’s run-out later left South Africa in trouble at 49 for 3 inside 8 overs.

Temba Bavuma (46 off46) and Aiden Markram made a great recovery as they added 47 runs for the fourth wicket. However, Wanindu Hasaranga’s hat-trick turned the tables once again in the favour of Sri Lanka. But unfortunately, Lahiru Kumara couldn’t defend 15 runs off the last over and thus Sri Lanka lost the game by 4 wickets.
