India defeated Afghanistan in their previous match in the tournament. Batting first in the match, India posted a massive total of 210-2 on the scoreboard. Rohit Sharma slammed 74 runs while KL Rahul hit 69 runs. Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant also hit crucial knocks of 35 and 27 respectively.

Afghanistan scored 144-7 in response. Their top order could not score much runs. Later, skipper Mohammad Nabi scored 35 runs while Karim Janat scored 42 runs. Afghanistan eventually lost the match by 66 runs. For India, pacer Mohammed Shami grabbed 3 wickets.

Scotland lost their previous game to New Zealand in ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Batting first, New Zealand piled up 172-5 on the scoreboard. Opener Martin Guptill slammed a marvellous knock of 93 runs. Glenn Phillips hit 33 runs.

Later, Michael Leask scored most 42 runs for Scotland. George Munsey and Matthew Cross also scored 22 and 27 runs. However, Scotland could only reach 156-5 on the scoreboard in the end and lost the match by 16 runs. For New Zealand, Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi picked 2 wickets each.
