T20 World Cup 2021: Rohit Sharma Gives An Update On Hardik Pandya's Bowling

India’s skipper Rohit Sharma provided an update on all-rounder Hardik Pandya’s bowling concerns. Rohit is standing in as the skipper for the second warmup match against Australia since Virat Kohli decided to sit out and take a break.

Hardik played as a specialist batsman for Mumbai Indians (MI) and also didn’t bowl a single over during India’s warmup match against England. Rohit revealed that Hardik isn’t fit enough yet to give his 100% while bowling but is slowly getting there.

Hardik is coming along pretty well but he’s still going to take some time. He hasn’t bowled much. When you play this kind of a tournament, you need to be 100%. He’s getting there. He’s not started bowling yet but in the next few days he starts bowling and he should be ready when the World Cup starts,” Rohit said at the toss ahead of the warmup match against Australia.

The sixth bowler option is being looked at, says Rohit Sharma

The 34-year-old Rohit further stated that India is keen to try a few bowling options to fill in the slot of a sixth bowler. In T20Is, it’s the best course of action to have a backup bowler just in case one of the main bowlers has an off day.

Myself, Virat, Surya. We’ll all bowl and see if we can chip in with a sixth option. Even if we play with five bowlers, we’ve got the quality. The sixth bowler just gives you an extra option in case someone is having a bad day,” Rohit said.

Hardik Pandya usually gives the sixth bowling option but if he fails to recover in time to bowl, Team India might consider bringing in an in-form Ishan Kishan in his place.
