Netherlands will take on Sri Lanka in the 12th match of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 on Friday at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The two teams are sitting at the opposite ends of the points table in Group A.

Sri Lanka have managed to win both the games they have played and thus are sitting at the top of the table. Thanks to those two wins, they have managed to confirm their place in the Super 12s. Ahead of their next game against the Netherlands, they would look to finish the qualifying round on a winning note.

Sri Lanka exhibited all-round performances in their last two matches. Avishka Fernando starred for them with the bat in the first game, while the likes of Pathum Nissanka and Wanindu Hasaranga made solid returns against Ireland.

The duo stitched together a 123-run partnership for the fourth wicket after Sri Lanka had lost three wickets for just 8 runs in the first two overs. That partnership helped the team reach a winning total.

Skipper D Shanaka’s 11-ball 21 cameo, in the end, helped Sri Lanka reach 171 runs in the first innings. The bowlers once again a disciplined display of bowling as all of them chipped in with a wicket or two.

Maheesh Theekshana, once again, starred with the ball, picking 3 for 17 in 4 overs, while Lahiru Kamara and Karunaratne picked two apiece. Thanks to those spells, Ireland were folded for a paltry 101-run total in the second innings.

On the other hand, the Netherlands are already out of the race for the Super 12. They have lost both the games played so far. Ahead of their last game of the qualifying round, Netherland would look to end their campaign with a win. The Dutch nation played their last game against Namibia.

Max ODowd, once again, set the foundation with a 56-ball 70. He was supported brilliantly by Ackermann, who played a valuable 35-run cameo off 32 balls. Scott Edwards’s unbeaten 21-run cameo in the end helped Netherlands notch a good-looking 164-run total in the first innings.

The likes of Seelar, Fred Klaasen and Ackermann picked a wicket each to leave Namibia in disarray in the second innings. After 8.2 overs, Namibia found themselves in trouble at 52 for 3.

However, a sensational knock from David Wiese turned the game on its head in the latter half of the innings. The South African-born cricketer counter-attacked with a sensational 40-ball 66-run knock and helped the team chase down the score in 19 overs.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium will play host to the 12th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 between Netherlands and Sri Lanka on Friday. This will be the second game of the ICC T20 World Cup which will be played at Sharjah Cricket Ground.

A lot of games were played of the second leg of IPL 2021 were recently played at this very ground. Unlike the previous year, the pitch this year has been much on the slower side. Spinners and the medium fast bowlers have found a lot of assistance from the surface.

Due to the slowness of the surface, the batsmen are going to face a lot of difficulty in smacking big hits. Anywhere between 140 and 150 should be an ideal score at this surface.
