T20 World Cup 2021: Great Performance Against A Side That Puts Up A Fight – Kane Williamson After 8-Wicket Win Over India

Kane Williamson-led New Zealand National Cricket Team won by 8 wickets against Virat Kohli-led India National Cricket Team at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 31.

New Zealand won the toss and they opted to bowl first and the Kiwi bowlers did an outstanding job for the team. The New Zealand bowling unit made sure that no Indian batter score big runs and they kept picking wickets at regular intervals and managed to restrict India to the score of 110.

Chasing the target openers Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell did a decent job. Mitchell had an excellent 72 runs partnership with skipper Kane Williamson and in the end, Williamson marched the Blackcaps towards a convincing victory.

During the post-match presentation, the New Zealand skipper said that Blackcaps performed great against team India that always puts up a fight. He also praised openers Martin Guptill and Daryl Mitchell for setting up the chase for the team. He asserted:

“There’s always planning to go into the game, but this was a great performance against a side that puts up a fight. The surface wasn’t easy to find a rhythm on, and the way the openers came out really set things up for the chase.”

Williamson reckoned that the conditions at Dubai was challenging and it was all about adapting to the condition. He also lauded spinners for applying pressure on the opposition. He asserted:

“It’s just about adapting to the conditions as well as we could. The way the spinners kept applying pressure was commendable and it was a complete performance. We play against strong teams all the time, and there are match-winners in every side, and we commit to our brand of cricket and today was a good example of that.”

Kane Williamson signed off by showering praise on Player Of The Match Ish Sodhi and said he is an ” outstanding white-ball bowler”. The Blackcaps captain stated:

“Ish is an outstanding white-ball bowler, and he’s very experienced in playing T20 cricket, having played in different leagues all over the world, and we’re looking forward to the rest of the games in the league stages.”
