Veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh suggested that Team India make a couple of changes in the playing XI ahead of the clash against New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.

India lost the T20 World Cup opener against Pakistan by 10 wickets. Now they will be hoping for a better outcome in the next game against New Zealand on Sunday at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh, on his YouTube channel, has answered fans query, whether India should add three spinners in the playing XI in the battle against New Zealand, to which he replied by saying three spinners will be too many and if India loses the toss they will be in trouble.

A lot of people want to know whether India should play three spinners. I’ll say no because three spinners will be too many. If you lose the toss then it will be a huge issue. Dew will settle in by the second innings and the spinners won’t be as successful. So we should try and play the same combination,” he elaborated.

Also, Harbhajan wants India to include Ishan Kishan at the top order and Shardul Thakur to replace Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He stated:

Yes, if Ishan Kishan comes in at the top of the order then it will be brilliant. And Shardul should come in place of Bhuvneshwar. Only two spinners should play.”

Harbhajan Singh has previously stated that Ishan Kishan should open the innings with Rohit Sharma in the T20 World Cup. KL Rahul should bat at number 4, replacing Suryakumar Yadav from the playing XI.

There were some questions raised over the selection of Varun Chakravarthy in the T20 World Cup 2021 despite his lack of international experience. Also, the mystery spinner was unable to trouble the Pakistan openers in the high-profile clash, and just like other Indian bowlers, he went wicketless.

However, the veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has opined that Varun is a “capable spinner” and we should trust his abilities.

Varun Chakravarthy is a very capable spinner. We have to trust him and I am sure he’s going to come good for us. He’s a brilliant bowler who’ll surely win a game for India,” he stated.
