The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the warmup matches schedule for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021 which will be played from October 17 onwards in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman.
The tournament will begin a couple of days after the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) ends which is also being played in UAE and the final of which will be played on October 15.
All of the warmup matches in Abu Dhabi and Dubai will take place behind closed doors – no spectators will be allowed attendance. Eight of the 16 warm-up matches will be broadcast on Star, with highlights for these matches available on ICC’s digital platforms.
The first set of warm-up fixtures will begin on 12 October, featuring all eight teams in Round 1 of the tournament. Each team will play two warm-up matches, with these fixtures being played over the course of the next two days.
Papua New Guinea and Ireland in Abu Dhabi will kick start the warmup schedule.

India To Play England And Australia In Warmup Matches
Every side in the Super 12s round will get to play two matches each in the lead up to their matches starting from October 23. This set of fixtures will be broadcast on TV, laptops, and mobile apps in India via Star Sports. The highlights of all the matches will be available on ICC’s digital platforms.
The Virat Kohli-led India side will face England and Australia in their warm-up matches which is good for the team given the strength of both sides. Their arch-rivals Pakistan, who will play India on October 24, will take on defending champions West Indies and South Africa in the warmup matches.
Australia will also face New Zealand, who will then play England as well in a repeat of the World Cup 2019 final.
In total, 8 matches will be played across two days with Dubai and Abu Dhabi hosting them. As of now, it is confirmed that Star Sports will telecast India’s warm-up matches apart from the main tournament from October 17.
The Super 12 round, meanwhile, will commence with the game between Australia and South Africa. And on the same day, the finalists of the 2016 T20 World Cup, England and West Indies will lock horns.
