In the 27th match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 Mohammad Nabi-led Afghanistan National Cricket Team went head-to-head with Gerhard Erasmus-led Namibia at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Sunday, October 31. Notably, Afghanistan won the match by a huge margin of 62 runs.

Earlier, Afghanistan won the toss opted to bat first and they made one change in playing XI by adding Hamid Hassan in place of unfit Mujeeb-ur-Rahman. On the other hand, Namibia made no changes and fielded the same playing XI.

The Afghan openers Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad were off to a flying start and they smashed 11 runs in the first over bowled by Ruben Trumpelmann. Openers carried forward the momentum and they were able to add 50 runs in the powerplay overs. However, just after the powerplay, JJ Smit was able to dismiss Hazratullah Zazai.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz was also dismissed by Loftie-Eaton in the 10th over and then Veteran Afghanistan batsman Asghar Afghan came out to bat and while walking out he received a much deserving guard of honour from the Namibian players. Meanwhile, Opener Mohammad Shahzad after scoring good 45 runs off 33 balls was also sent back to the dugout in the 13th over, soon in the 16th over Najibullah Zadran got out after scoring only 7 runs.

Meanwhile, Asghar Afghan was able to play a very good knock for team Afghanistan in his last international game, he was able to score good 31 runs off 23 deliveries including three fours and one maximum. In the end, Mohammad Nabi played an excellent knock of 32 runs off 17 balls to help Afghanistan post 160 runs on the board.

Chasing the target Namibia team were off to a very poor start having lost the wicket of Craig Williams in the first over and Michael van Lingen in the 3rd over. Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton who had a very good day with the ball was castled by Gulbadin Naib in the last of the powerplay. Namibia then kept losing wickets at regular intervals and they were able to score only 98 runs.

The 28th match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 was a high-profile encounter between Kane Williamson-led New Zealand National Cricket Team and Virat Kohli-led India National Cricket Team at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Notably, New Zealand won the game convincingly by 8 wickets.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and they invited India to bat first. Both the teams made big changes in the playing XI. New Zealand added speedster Adam Milne to the team in place of Tim Seifert. On the other hand, India dropped Bhuvneshwar Kumar and added Shardul Thakur as his replacement. Also, Suryakumar Yadav was dropped due to a back spasm and Ishan Kishan came in as his replacement and Kohli also confirmed that Kishan will be opening the innings for India.

Everyone expected Kishan to open the innings with his Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma but it didn’t happen as he came out to bat with KL Rahul.

Trent Boult bowled the excellent first over as he gave only 1 run. The second over was bowled by Tim Southee and it was a slightly better one for India as he gave away 5 runs.

Ishan Kishan smashed a four to Boult in the third over, played a couple of dots and played a very good flick shot but was caught by Daryl Mitchell at deep square leg. Then, Rohit Sharma came out to bat and he was welcomed with a bouncer by Trent Boult, Rohit couldn’t control the hook shot and the ball went straight to fine leg but fielder Adam Milne dropped the catch of his Mumbai Indians skipper.

Meanwhile, after that India faced a major batting collapse KL Rahul got out after scoring 18 runs off 16 balls, Rohit Sharma scored 14 off 14 and Skipper Virat Kohli who batted brilliantly in the last game was also sent back to the dugout in the 11th over by Ish Sodhi and he scored only 9 runs off 17 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant got out after scoring 12(19) and Hardik Pandya was unable to survive for long and he scored 23 runs at a strike rate of 95.83 and was dismissed by his Mumbai Indians teammate Trent Boult. In the same 19th over Boult dismissed Shardul Thakur on duck. In the end with the help of Ravindra Jadeja’s decent 26 runs knock, India posted a low total of 110 runs.

Chasing the target the Blackcaps openers Daryl Mitchell and Martin Guptill did a very good job. However, Jasprit Bumrah was able to get the early breakthrough for India as he dismissed Martin Guptill (20) in the 4th over.

Daryl Mitchell missed out on his half-century by just one run as he was dismissed by Jasprit Bumrah in the 13th over. In the end, captain Kane Williamson and Devon Conway marched New Zealand towards a comfortable victory.
