England registered an emphatic 8-wicket win over Bangladesh on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi to continue their position at the top of their group with now two wins in as many games.
Chasing 125, Jason Roy started with a boundary on the first ball before he took a couple of more fours off Mustafizur Rahman. Jos Buttler joined in the act, thumping Shakib Al Hasan for a maximum, but was caught in the deep off the bowling of Nasum Ahmed. England though raced to 50/1 by the end of the powerplay.
England didn’t let Bangladesh back in the game: Roy stroked Mahedi Hasan for a six and a four and Dawid Malan slammed a couple of fours to Ahmed. After rotating the strike for a while, Roy brought up his fifty with a powerful strike down the ground.
Roy got out to Shoriful Islam after he had walloped the bowler for six behind the wicket and had put the game in England’s pocket.
Earlier, after electing to bowl first, Bangladesh were left to rue their decision as Moeen Ali struck twice dismissing Liton Das and Naim. Chris Woakes handed the big blow to Bangladesh with the wicket of Shakib Al Hasan to finish the powerplay at 27/3.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah steadied the ship for a while with their 32-ball 37-run stand before Rahim was trapped lbw by Livingstone, failing to connect with his reverse sweep.
The wicket procession started again as Afif Hossain got run out before Mahmudullah was dismissed by Livingstone. Tymal Mills picked his first wicket, getting rid of Mahedi Hasan.
Nasum Ahmed, though, whacked a couple of sixes and a four in the 19th over, bowled by Adil Rashid to take Bangladesh over 120.

England makes 2 in 2 in the T20 World Cup 2021, both convincing wins with bowlers making the job more easier to the batting unit – fifty from Roy and 3 wickets by Tymal Mills was the star for the Morgan lead team.

A second comfortable win for England in the World Cup. As clinical with the ball as they were against West Indies and more clinical with the bat. Should there be any concerns that they haven’t been tested yet? Don’t think so. Take the wins and move on #T20WorldCup #ENGvBAN

Roy playing that knock against a team loaded with spin tells you enough about his progress as a T20 player.

Bangladesh with this performance have almost eliminated themselves. I have no idea why they chose to bat first.
