Star Sri Lanka batsman Kusal Perera was castled by the brilliant yorker of the fierce Aussie left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc in the 22nd match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, October 28.
Kusal Perera who was having a very poor run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 finally looked in good touch in the match against Australia. He scored good 35 runs off 25 balls including four boundaries and one maximum but was unable to survive the deadly yorker of Starc.
Captain Aaron Finch handed over the 11th over to Mitchell Starc in the search for a breakthrough and Starc lived up to expectations dismissing set batsman Perera.
In the 2nd ball of the 11th over the Sri Lanka batsman smashed a brilliant six and in the very next ball, Starc delivered 144 kph inswinging yorker searing into the base of the middle stump to dismiss Kusal Perera.
Sri Lanka Off To A Decent Start Against Australia
Earlier, Australia won the toss and invited Dasun Shanaka and co. to bat first and the openers started slowly adding only 11 runs in the first two over. The third over was an interesting one as Patt Cummins dismissed Pathum Nissanka but ended up giving 14 runs, the next over was bowled by Glenn Maxwell and he ended up giving 16 runs.
Batters Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka looked comfortable out in middle and they added excellent 63 runs off 44 deliveries before leg-spinner Adam Zampa broke the partnership by dismissing Charith Asalanka (35) in the 10th over, Zampa bowled a googly and Asalanka played a slog-sweep against the turn and the ball went straight towards Steve Smith.
Meanwhile, Avishka Fernando scored only 4 runs and got out in the 12th over and Wanindu Hasaranga was also unable to provide the stability to the Sri Lanka batting unit as he was dismissed by Mitchell Starc in the 13th over and suddenly Sri Lanka were on the backfoot.
