While stating that England “must undoubtedly take the Cup home,” AB de Villiers warned the Jos Buttler-led team that “it is not that straightforward” to win the championship. The South African said that which team wants the championship the most will determine the outcome of the game.

“My personal opinion, man to man, England must surely take the Cup home! But, the beauty of Sport tells us it’s just not that simple! Gonna come down to who wants it most, along with the rhythm and beauty of the game. Who knows?!” de Villiers tweeted.

AB de Villiers had picked India to beat England in the last-four match:

De Villiers had previously predicted the semi-finals, but the conclusion was the reverse. He had picked India to overcome England in the last-four match, and the fans were rooting for India and Pakistan to meet in the final.

“England most definitely has the batting lineup to chase this down, they’ve proven that on a number of occasions, but I feel India’s got this one. Just the thought of an India/Pakistan final makes my heart beat faster. Hardik & Ashwin to take the match-winning poles IMO,”  AB de Villiers tweeted on November 10.

At the Adelaide Oval, England humiliated India with a 10-wicket victory in the semifinal match to go to the final against Pakistan, who defeated New Zealand by a score of 7 wickets in the round of 16.

The final’s playing rules were altered by the ICC since rain is expected. In case more time was needed to finish the match and determine the outcome, the Event Technical Committee added an additional two hours on the reserve day.
