Cricketers in India are always under heavy pressure from fans and experts to deliver big results. At the same time, there is absolutely no lack of talent since there are many talented players awaiting their chance. As a result, only players who consistently provide over an extended period of time can succeed in the squad.

Over the years, the IPL has provided India’s T20I team with various superstars. Just a handful of those names are Suryakumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzi Chahal, and Hardik Pandya.

As a result, it is now extremely difficult to make the Indian short-format side. First-choice players’ injuries and conflicting schedules have given the much-needed chance to aspiring youngsters. Many of them have also seized their prospects.

Let’s check three such players who, should they perform poorly in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, could be benched and replaced by competitors pounding on their door.

ICC T20 World Cup 2022: 3 Players Who Will Be Axed From Indian Cricket Team If They Don’t Perform Well In The World Cup

1. Dinesh Karthik/Rishabh Pant

Dinesh Karthik is on the list despite the fact that every other player is there because of their performance, not their age. Karthik, who has a penchant for making rapid runs, is 37 years old and not getting any younger.

His comeback story is a fairytale for the ages. It isn’t a relationship that will endure, though. Young wicketkeeper batsmen are next in line. Poor performance in ICC T20 World Cup 2022 should be sufficient for the management to let DK go.

On the other hand, though Rishabh Pant was expected to succeed in T20Is, team India has discovered that he is more of a Test cricketer. Pant has played 58 T20 matches and scored a total of 960 runs at an average of 24.

Samson and Kishan have stronger ODI and T20I records than he does, so time is not on his side. Pant doesn’t even have the certainty of starting in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Unless someone in the first-choice XI has a fitness issue, he might warm the bench.

2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar‘s T20I performance has deteriorated recently. He has taken only two wickets and allowed 161 runs off 15 overs in his last four games. The short ball lacks aggression, and the yorkers aren’t connecting. If there isn’t a swing available, Kumar struggles a lot. The axe will fall on Bhuvaneshwar Kumar if he does not deliver in the upcoming T20 WC 2022.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin

In T20 competitions, Ravichandran Ashwin is India’s most successful spinner. Ashwin recently replaced Yuzvendra Chahal as Rohit and co’s go-to spinner. He hasn’t done much with the opportunities he’s had, though.

He should be removed if he has a terrible T20 WC 2022 performance. In 8 T20I matches in 2022, he has only taken 5 wickets, with an average strike rate of 43.80 and 38.40, respectively.
