On October 6, Team India left for Australia to compete in the T20 World Cup. Leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah was forced to withdraw from the team last week due to a back ailment; a replacement will be named in the coming days. The team, captained by Rohit Sharma, travelled with a 14-member roster.

On October 23, Rahul Dravid’s men will face off against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup opener. The two teams previously faced off twice in the Asia Cup.

Despite defeating Pakistan in the tournament’s group stage, India lost to eventual champions Sri Lanka in the Super 4 game, and the team was ultimately eliminated from the competition. Men in Blue will also be seeking to improve on their performance from the T20 World Cup’s previous iteration, in which the team was eliminated in the group stage.

England And Australia Plan A Lot Better Than India: Rashid Latif

The management of the Indian side made a commitment to improving their backup choices in the game’s shortest format after last year’s disastrous campaign. The team underwent a number of adjustments throughout the year, particularly in their bowling attack, which gave the selectors access to a sizable pool of players when the squad was announced last month.

Rashid Latif, a former captain for Pakistan, has a fairly intriguing perspective on the matter. The anchor mentioned Deepak Hooda as he discussed the ailments afflicting India; Hooda had also had an injury and had to miss the T20I series against Australia and South Africa, but had travelled for the T20 World Cup with the Indian side.

Hooda should have been given more opportunity during the testing period, the anchor questioned, according to Latif. “They keep their main players everywhere and they keep changing their players frequently. 56-57 players khila diye unhone poore saal me, event koi bhi nahi bada jeeta. Ye ek issue hai.”

“Australia and England plan a lot better. Then comes Pakistan,” Latif further stated.

India last triumphed in an ICC competition in 2013, when MS Dhoni served as captain and the team won the Champions Trophy. India has now advanced to the knockout rounds of eight ICC events, including three finals, but has not won the championship.
