Australia will host the 2022 T20 World Cup from October 16 to November 13 of that year. The Men in the Blue team will compete in the eighth consecutive T20 World Cup and will attempt to end a 15-year title drought this time around.
The Men in the Blue team for the megaevent is anticipated to be revealed by the Indian selectors on September 16.
Similar to the last edition, Men in the Blue will launch the campaign against Pakistan this time as well. On October 23, the two bitter rivals will square off at the venerable Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The Men in Blue will compete in the Asia Cup T20 event and two domestic white-ball series against Australia and South Africa before the T20 World Cup. The games would aid Indian players in finding their rhythm ahead of the major competition Down Under.
Since the conclusion of the T20 World Cup last year, the Men in the Blue team has played well and has won the majority of the T20 Internationals (19 wins out of 24), which will keep them in good spirits before the competition.
The BCCI is expected to announce the Indian team for the T20 World Cup by September 16:
On September 15, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is anticipated to announce the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. The five-person selection committee, led by Chetan Sharma, will meet in Mumbai to choose the Indian team for the championship event, which is being held for the first time in Australia, per a report in InsideSport.
Four days after the Asia Cup’s final, which will take place on September 11 and begin on August 27 in the United Arab Emirates, the selectors will convene to decide the Men in the Blue team squad for the T20 World Cup. In essence, the Asia Cup is the last opportunity for players to make a good impression on the selection committee and make their case.
The tournament’s qualifying group stage, which will be hosted by Australia, begins on October 16. The main event, also known as the Super 12, begins on October 22.
