ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Mitchell Marsh Set To Make Comeback Against West Indies As Australia Prepares For The World Cup

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will bat at No. 3 in the top order in the two-match T20I series against the West Indies starting on Wednesday, October 5. Australia will play this series as part of its ICC T20 World Cup 2022 preparations.
Australian skipper Aaron Finch has confirmed that Mitchell Marsh will play as a specialist batsman and will not bowl as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury.
Marsh’s return is good news for the defending champions as he has not featured in an international match since an ODI against Zimbabwe in August due to an ankle injury.
Stoinis Will Be Fit For The First Game Against England – Aaron Finch
Marcus Stoinis is still recovering from a side strain. Aaron Finch said that he will return for the first T20I of the three-match T20I series against England on Sunday, October 9.
“He’s at a level where we think that he’ll be fully fit for that first game against England,” Finch told reporters on the Gold Coast on Tuesday.
“We were just conscious of the travel with a quick turnaround. It can be quite a high-risk game for some guys with some soft tissue injuries so he’s just still planning and preparing there.”
Opener David Warner, who was rested during the tour of India, will return against the West Indies. In the absence of Marcus Stoinis for the two-match series, Cameron Greene could still feature as he provides an extra bowling option.
“It’s never easy when you’re trying to balance up the side, particularly when the all-rounders aren’t fully fit at the moment,” Finch said.
“So that gives us an opportunity to keep tinkering with the squad. We feel as though we’ve got our best 11 in the back of our mind, but it’s just not everyone’s 100% fit at the moment.”
