Headed by Rohit Sharma At the T20 World Cup, Team India has had an outstanding run because of players who excel in both categories. KL Rahul has regained his mojo and legendary batsman Virat Kohli is in charge of the batting rankings.

Suryakumar Yadav is yet another influential figure. With 225 runs from five matches and a strike rate of nearly 200, the top-ranked T20I hitter is now India’s second-highest scorer in the competition.

The management will try to patch up a few chinks before the important semifinal match against England, which is set to be played in Adelaide on Thursday, despite the fantastic performance.

Suryakumar Yadav Is Being Watched Closely By Teams: Pragyan Ojha

Former India spinner Pragyan Ojha agreed, saying that the team as a whole must stand up and not rely solely on one player. The ex-cricketer warns Rohit and company and emphasises Suryakumar’s role in helping India put up huge totals on the board, feeling that the opposition will deliberately target him.

“Whatever happened in the past you can be really happy about it, but in the future, in the semifinal or if India go ahead and play the final, people will start targeting someone like Suryakumar Yadav.

“They have been watching him very closely. I am very sure England would have planned really well against him because they know he is a guy who has been really doing it for the Indian team when they needed him the most,” Ojha noted during an interaction with India Today.

Suryakumar Yadav’s Innings Took India Past 150 In Previous Game: Pragyan Ojha

Ojha remarked that had star batsman Suryakumar not hit big, India might have been below 150 after his blistering 25-ball 61 against Zimbabwe.

“In the last game the fifty that Suryakumar Yadav got, had he not got that, I think India was well under 150. That is something which all the teams must be noting down. That is the reason I am saying when you are playing knockouts it is not one individual,” the former spinner said.

While Kohli is in imperious form and Rahul got back-to-back half-centuries, team captain Rohit has yet to have a huge game in the tournament. Ojha believes that the top order must share the burden against England fairly as the World Cup nears its conclusion.

“It’s the entire top order that has to come and deliver. They should equally divide the pressure amongst themselves. You will not want a superhero, you will want four to five heroes for the last two days where they can manage everything in between themselves,” he said.
